In Remembrance of the 19th Anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing

Statement

Date: April 19, 2014

Nineteen years ago, on April 19, 1995, the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City was bombed, killing 168 public servants. HUD lost 35 of our own on that terrible day - amazing and vital lives cut short by an act of terrorism.

There are also 50 HUD employees who survived along with employees from other agencies. Their commitment to work together to improve their community is as strong as ever and the strength they demonstrate stand as a testament to our nation's resilient character.

On this day of commemoration, we should all pause to honor those that lost their lives, and offer a special prayer for their families. We will never forget their contributions to HUD and to our great nation.
