Today, Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI12) issued the following statement regarding the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations hearing on the recent recall of General Motors (GM) vehicles with defective ignition switches:

"I join my colleagues in expressing my condolences to the families and loved ones of the thirteen people killed in the crashes that gave rise to GM's recent recall of small cars. Congress and federal regulators owe it to them and the American people to examine this matter thoroughly. I expect all stakeholders to be unabashedly forthcoming in sharing information with the government as this process moves forward in order to better ensure the safety of American motorists."
