U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) issued the following statement today after the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced it will contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to build a fire break at the West Lake Landfill in Bridgeton, Mo.:

"This announcement is a good first step, but we must continue working to ensure we reach the best possible outcome for the community and area residents.
