Rohrabacher Secures House Passage Of $16 Million Authorization For Funding Of Local Transportation Priorities

Washington, Mar 10 - Representative Rohrabacher (R-CA) announced the inclusion of several local priorities in the Transportation Equity Act of 2005 which passed the House of Representatives today. The legislation authorizes transportation funding for the next six years and next goes to the Senate for passage.

The local projects included in the bill:

$500, 000 - City of Westminster. Funding for the removal of the Beach Blvd. Ramp on I-405 to add a fourth lane to the northbound I-405 at Beach Blvd. City of Westminster
$5,000,000 - Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority. Funding to design a new, wider bridge connecting the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and the SR-47 freeway.
$2,000,000 - City of Los Angeles. Funding for a study of the V. Thomas Bridge for cargo capacity in the future and to determine alternative solutions.
$3,210,000 - Orange County Transportation Authority. Funding to add one lane in each direction of the I-405 from Beach Blvd. to SR-73 and improvements north of Beach Blvd.
$5,290,000- Orange County Transportation Authority - Funding for safety improvements at OCTA railroad crossings and security upgrades along the Metrolink line.
"Improving traffic on congested Orange County freeways continues to be a priority," said Rep. Rohrabacher. "Orange County residents pay more than their fair share of taxes and deserve to see a little return. This authorization for funding will go a long way in providing important infrastructure improvements in order to maintain the high quality of life Orange County residents currently enjoy."
