Agriculture is a cornerstone of the economy in the 8th District of Tennesee. With many of our families depending on the agriculture industry to quite literally put food on the table, it is important to have stong agriculture polity. I was a vocal supporter of H.R. 1947, the "Farm Bill."

I will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that Congress implements good agricultural policy for not only farmers in the 8th District, but for farmers throughout the country. As a member of the House Committee on Agriculture, I will continue to advocate for sensible agrictultural policies for the 8th District, the state of Tennesee, and the nationa as a whole. With good agrictultural politices, come low food prices, which will help keep the cost of groceries affordable and allow families in our District to be able to put nutritious food on the table.

I support the following legislation:

H.R. 1947: the Federal Agriculture Reform and Risk Management (FARRM) Act of 2013
H.R. 1633: Farm Dust Regulation Prevention Act (House Passed)
H.R. 1341: Financial Competitive Act of 2013 (I introduced; House Passed)
H.R. 6233: Agriculture Disaster Assistance Act of 2012 (House Passed)
Voted against H.Amdt 227: to Amend the Federal Sugar Program
