Issue Position

I am committed to working with all residents of Florida's 10th District and all Americans to create the brightest future for our country through innovation, education and communities that are connected.

I strive for a brighter future that includes greater equality for GLBTA Americans. I want to ensure that we, as a Nation, are eliminating barriers to equality, fighting discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, and engaging GLBTA communities not just in Florida's 10th but from coast to coast and around the world.

I spent thirteen years in the United States Navy. I took the oath of enlistment four times. Within that oath is an extremely powerful sentence: " ...to protect freedom and democracy, around the world." Notice I did not specify freedom, or break it down into groups, race, religion, ethnicity. It is FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY.

And so it is in this FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY that I support the efforts of the GLBTA community and work to push through barriers which have long been standing. The GLBTA community deserves their equality and will get it, for it is LONG overdue.
