Issue Position: Jobs and the Economy

Issue Position

My vision for America starts with us securing a healthy economy by embracing economic freedom. Our economy is on life-support, being propped up by irresponsible government spending and money printing. This unstable foundation of failed government-centric policies hurts families, workers, and small businesses, all while adding trillions of dollars to our national debt.

It's time we remember the American entrepreneurial spirit, which has been the backbone of our national prosperity. Risk, hard work, and sacrifice should be rewarded, not discouraged by Washington politicians. I'll fight to promote an environment that rewards those who work hard and create jobs.

Irresponsible federal spending and money printing penalizes workers and savers by devaluing wages, lowering investment returns, and increasing the cost of all goods and services, which disproportionately hurts low and middle income Americans.

It's time we change course and adopt an economic freedom agenda that will increase opportunities and choices for everyone. First, we must simplify the tax code by making it flatter and fairer. From John F. Kennedy to Ronald Reagan to Bill Clinton and to George W. Bush, history proves that lowering taxes increases economic prosperity and creates jobs. Our business tax rates are among the highest in the developed world. This hurts American workers. We compete in a global marketplace and we need a government that doesn't penalize American workers through high taxation.

We must also balance our federal budget. Politicians are spending money we don't have leveraging the American Dream for our children. Washington can't continue to play by a different set of rules. We need leaders to fight for a secure and prosperous future for our children, free from massive debt and interest payments.

American workers and small business owners are over-regulated. Punitive and irresponsible regulation stifles economic growth and adds to the underlying cost of domestic production, which raises prices on consumers. Again, this disproportionately hurts low and middle income Americans -- an unfair penalty directly caused by government.

Our best days await us. Embracing economic freedom empowers families, workers, and small business owners. Join me and together we can unleash the next great American economic awakening that will create jobs and opportunities for all.
