Blog: President's Latest Broken Promise Hits Our Seniors

Statement

Ohioans are once again on the hook for ObamaCare's broken promises. This time, it's seniors in our area who are hit the hardest.

More than 50,000 seniors in the 8th District rely on Medicare Advantage for their health care needs, and the president's administration today announced cuts that leave them vulnerable to losing their doctors and benefits.

This is another violation of the president's promise that, under his health care law, people can keep what they like -- and seniors in our area have certainly taken note.

Nancy from Hamilton is 81 years old. She took the time to write our office and explain how ObamaCare's cuts to Medicare Advantage have already hurt her access to care. In October, she received a letter saying that her doctors had been dropped out of network. Nancy is legally blind, and, at age 81, it is unfair for her to be facing the stress and uncertainty caused by ObamaCare's cuts to her low-cost, high-quality health care.

Stacy and his wife live in West Chester, and they have had their Medicare Advantage plan for many years now. Like Nancy, they also recently lost their doctors. Stacy says that, "Any more cuts, and we may see many plans being eliminated and costs for members skyrocketing until they are entirely unaffordable."

Remember, these are things the president specifically promised would not happen. "With today's announcement," Congressman Boehner said, "that promise has not just been broken, but shattered. If the president won't work with us to repeal the law and replace it with better solutions, then at a minimum, he and his allies in Congress owe the American people a plan for dealing with the consequences of these destructive policies."
