Palazzo Push for Term Limits Builds Momentum

Location: Washington, DC

Washington, DC- Congressman Steven Palazzo, (MS-4), recently welcomed the support of Reps. Steve Scalise, (LA-1) Mick Mulvaney, (SC-5), Reid Ribble, (WI-8), in his efforts to limit terms for Members of Congress to no more than twelve consecutive years in either the U.S. Senate or House of Representatives.

"I welcome the support of my colleagues in this effort, and I fully expect more will join us. Our plan is a responsible measure that would provide lawmakers sufficient time to make meaningful contributions in Congress, yet still limits terms so that they return home to live by the laws they create."

The most recent legislation, H.J. Res. 108, includes language similar to a provision introduced by Palazzo in October 2013. Both bills would amend the U.S. Constitution to limit members of the U.S. House of Representatives to six terms and members of the U.S. Senate to two terms. Palazzo is also a cosponsor of the End Pensions in Congress Act, and has called for other Members of Congress to join him in giving up their congressional pensions once they leave office.
