Issue Position: Job Creation and the Economy

Issue Position

To grow our economy, we need to focus on growing and developing the middle class. We need to look at advancing our workers through job and skill advancement with partnerships between corporations and employees. Often small business has difficulty expanding and growing. One proposal is creating outreach groups. They can connect small business with the global market, which will give small business a chance to expand their services and products to even more consumers. We need to strengthen and protect worker's rights. We need to create incentives for workers to earn a living wage which will create spending power for our local and global economy. Another proposal would be to create a national database for both public and private sectors, on a local and national level, to best match a candidate's skill set with employment opportunities. We also need to focus on worker safety through increasing paid vacation days and mental health focus to prevent worker fatigue and mental exhaustion. These have a direct impact on working class families and create a loss of productivity on the job. With a focus on job growth, education, and job skills training, we can continue to strengthen our stagnant economy. I intend to work on reclaiming our credit rating we lost in 2011 while working to ensure the US maintains credit worthiness. One investment that needs to be made is in our infrastructure as it is the true backbone of our economy. My proposal can be found through this link.
