Washington, D.C. -- U.S. Congressman Dave Reichert (WA-8) released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Commerce released the news that U.S. exports reached $2.3 trillion in 2013:

"This is great news for America's businesses, workers, and farmers. A record number of exports for the fourth year in a row is good news for job-creation and it means that international trade is helping our economy grow. In order to continue to boost our exports, we need ambitious trade agreements, such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the Trade in Services Agreement, and a U.S.-EU trade agreement, to increase access for American exporters and service providers across the globe. To successfully conclude these agreements, we need to renew Trade Promotion Authority through passage of the Bipartisan Congressional Trade Priorities Act, ensuring that Congress has a voice in the negotiations and updated provisions to reflect the 21st century. As a member of the President's Export Council, I will continue to fight for an even playing field for Washington's farmers, workers, and businesses."
