Ross Responds to State of the Union Address

Statement

U.S. Rep. Dennis Ross (FL-15) issued the following statement in response to President Obama's 2014 State of the Union Address:

"When it comes to creating an even better America, we must bring people together and not pit our neighbors against one another. As the leader of the free world, the president should unite, not divide.

"We should be striving to raise the status quo, not lower those who are successful. The only way that is realistic is by addressing our problems with market-based solutions that are focused on individuals. Families and small businesses will prosper when we create an environment that allows them to thrive. Unfortunately, the president has limited our choices and ushered in government mandates in many areas of lives -- from government control of health care to onerous business regulations, to what light bulbs we use as families.

"In order to improve our country's economic state, we must empower people and make life easier for hard-working taxpayers across Florida and across the whole country.

"It is my hope that we come together to tackle the biggest issues facing individuals and families across our great nation."
