Blackburn Acts to Require Obamacare Transparency

Statement

Energy and Commerce Committee Vice Chair Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) issued the following statement following House passage of the Exchange Information Disclosure Act. Blackburn is a cosponsor of the legislation, sponsored by Representative Lee Terry (R-NE), that would require the administration to release weekly reports providing meaningful data regarding the health care exchanges -- including enrollment numbers, functionality, and efforts to address technical issues affecting HealthCare.gov.

"This was supposed to be the most transparent administration in history, but to date this White House has failed to share important data in regards to enrollment on the Obamacare exchanges. The American taxpayers who paid to implement this law deserve to know who's actually paid and what the demographics are of who's enrolling. Every day we are hearing from constituents who are suffering due to this failed law. It's time for this administration to shoot straight with the American people and provide this very basic information. That is why it is very appropriate that we have acted today to require HHS to provide us with meaningful information regarding the Obamacare exchanges on weekly basis."
