Issue Position

It is a fundamental right for women to control their own health and bodies. Choosing to terminate a pregnancy is a sad and difficult decision which the government has no place in intruding. It is completely inappropriate for the government to attempt secondary boycotts of organizations like Planned Parenthood who are the only source of women's health services in many communities. I support providing effective women's health and prenatal services to all our nation's women.

I firmly support the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act. This act works to add protection and improve services for victims of both genders from domestic violence and dating violence. We must address this sort of violence as part of our national conversation if we are going to make progress in letting women feel safe in their own homes.

I support the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. This act supports and extends the protection of equal pay for equal work. It is necessary because of the continuing nationwide unfair wage gap between men and women when they are performing the same work.
