Issues: Marriage

A fundamental American value is equal rights for all. We have had many great debates and changes in expectations of equality since the 1960s. I was and am an active supporter of the great Civil Rights and Women's Rights movements.

The cause for our time is that of Gay Rights (or more precisely GLBT rights). This movement also deserves our support.

I strongly believe in the institution of marriage, having been married over 40 years and having been the product of a broken marriage. Every adult who wants a lifelong loving union with the willing adult partner of their choice should be allowed to marry that partner, without regard to the gender of the two people involved. It is time for all Americans to recognize that right.

It is also time to pass ENDA, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act which strengthen protections from employment discrimination for issues not related to ability to do the job.
