Congressman Luke Messer on Dismal Obamacare Enrollment Numbers

Statement

Date: Nov. 13, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

"The Obamacare enrollment numbers released today are abysmally low. According to the Department of Health and Human Services, only 701 Hoosiers have signed up for Obamacare. What's worse, the Indiana Department of Insurance estimates more than 108,000 people in Indiana will likely be kicked off of their health insurance plans. That means for every one person who has successfully signed up for Obamacare over 150 have or will receive cancellation letters.

"These numbers prove the problems with Obamacare are much deeper than a flawed website; it is a flawed law. I continue to receive letters, emails and phone calls from Hoosiers upset about losing their current health care plan, having to change doctors, and being required to pay more each month for health insurance.

"No Washington bureaucrat should come between Hoosiers and their health care. It's time for the President to work with Republicans in our bipartisan effort to allow people to keep the health insurance plans that work for them."
