The Tradition Continues

Statement

Date: Nov. 12, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Tim Huelskamp (KS-01) completed another nine Town Halls in the Tradition of his predecessors Senators Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran. Close to 300 Kansans turned out to visit one on one with the Congressman over the past week -- speaking to him about a variety of concerns including Obamacare, out of control spending, over-regulation, marriage and family, and the Farm Bill.

"During my short time in office I have conducted more than 200 Town Hall meetings across the Big First. Frankly, I don't know how you can do this job right and not actually visit with constituents. I've learned something during almost every Town Hall whether it's a new idea, a new regulation, or a new problem created by Washington. These Town Halls are very important to rural Kansans by allowing them an opportunity to share their voice. As an advocate for Kansans, I take their thoughts, concerns, and criticisms to Washington," said Rep. Huelskamp.

In the last week, Congressman Huelskamp conducted Town Halls in Sheridan, Thomas, Logan, Gove, Lane, Rooks, Ellis, Marshall, and Washington counties covering more than 1,400 miles visiting constituents. As promised he has completed Town Halls in every county in the First District since 2011, perhaps more than any other Congressman. In addition to more than 200 Town Halls, Rep. Huelskamp has completed nearly 20 Telephone Town Halls.
