U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today cosponsored legislation that would assure Americans retain the option to keep their current health-care plans under Obamacare.

"President Obama and congressional Democrats promised the American people that they would be able to keep their current health-care plan if they so choose," Wicker said. "We know now that this is simply not the case. Americans deserve the right to choose the best care for themselves and their families."

The "If You Like Your Health Plan, You Can Keep It Act," introduced by Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., would give individuals the freedom to elect to keep the health insurance they have today and would allow insurers to offer many of the plans Obamacare is forcing them to drop.

More than two million Americans have already been informed they will lose their current coverage, despite President Obama's promise. One report recently found that three times as many people who have signed up for Obamacare have been told they will lose their current coverage.

"This legislation will hold President Obama and congressional Democrats accountable," Wicker added. "No American should be dropped from his or her current health plan due to Obamacare, which is happening across Mississippi and the nation."

Rep. Ron DeSantis, R- Fla., has introduced similar legislation in the House of Representatives.
