Loebsack Measure for Cedar Rapids Flood Protection Moving Forward in House Infrastructure Bill

Congressman Dave Loebsack today announced that flood protection measures in downtown Cedar Rapids that he fought to expand after the Floods of 2008 have been included in the House version of the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA). The legislation is currently moving through the House with votes anticipated later today. Since the Floods of 2008, Loebsack has worked to bring over $4 billion in disaster assistance to Iowans.

"The inclusion of this language in the House Water Resources Reform and Development Act bill is a great next step for the City of Cedar Rapids in making sure that the same damage that we witnessed five years ago is never seen again," said Loebsack. "I look forward to supporting this legislation so Cedar Rapids can continue its recovery process and thrive. While we can never predict what the future weather will bring, we can work to ensure that we stand ready to protect our neighbors and property."
