Buono Statement on Christie's $25 Million Budget Shortfall

Statement

Date: Sept. 20, 2013

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Barbara Buono issued the following statement in response to new data from the New Jersey Department of Treasury showing a $25 million shortfall in the current budget:

"Today's report is further proof of the Governor's mismanagement of the state's budget. Just two months into the current fiscal year, New Jersey faces a $25 million gap that could have easily been avoided had he not scheduled the Senate special election on a Wednesday in October instead of November 5.

"This report, coupled with more than 12,000 jobs lost in the last two months, make it clear that Governor Christie's fiscally irresponsible policies are not helping workers nor the financial well-being of the state."
