Buono: Time for Governor Christie to Sign Medical Marijuana Legislation

Statement

Date: Sept. 16, 2013
Issues: Marijuana

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Barbara Buono released the following statement:

"During the last several days, I have heard from a number of families desperate to help their children suffering from debilitating diseases - including my former communications director, Ken Horwitz. His two year old daughter has been diagnosed with epilepsy and her daily seizures have delayed her development. He has tried four different medications and two different diets all designed to control seizures, but nothing has worked.

"Governor Christie has the opportunity to help families like his. More than fifty days ago, a bill arrived on his desk to give children the same access to pain medications as adults. As long as a physician approved the treatment as safe, they could use medical marijuana to relieve their suffering. I urge the Governor to sign this legislation immediately. It's time for the Governor to stop dragging his feet and take action to improve the lives of children who are suffering."
