Statement

Date: Aug. 31, 2013
Issues: Defense

Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) issued the following statement today after President Barack Obama announced he will seek a vote in Congress to authorize a limited military strike in Syria in response to the use of chemical weapons by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad:

"I support President Barack Obama's call for congressional authorization for any limited military strike in Syria in response to the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime on its own people. In the coming days, I look forward to a robust debate in the Congress and a discussion with the American people. I will continue to listen to the concerns of my constituents and evaluate the intelligence and the use of limited military force. Ultimately, I will make a decision and vote solely based on the facts and evidence presented to me."

Tomorrow, Sunday, September 1, 2013, Congressman Dan Kildee will travel to Washington, D.C. to attend a classified briefing for Members of Congress regarding Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's use of chemical weapons.
