Bachmann Votes to Keep IRS Out of Obamacare

Statement

Date: Aug. 2, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN-06) released the following statement today after voting for the Keep the IRS Off Your Health Care Act of 2013, which would prevent the IRS from having any role in the enforcement or implementation of Obamacare.

"Targeting Tea Party and conservative organizations because of their personal political and religious beliefs is an appalling abuse of power, and the American people have rightly lost any trust in the IRS. With the implementation of Obamacare at hand, the IRS is charged with playing a key role in enforcing the President's healthcare law, which will only open the door to more government abuse and overreach.

"The IRS has demonstrated a willingness to use the machinery of government for political purposes and they should not be involved in the healthcare decisions of American families. Patients, families and doctors should be making personal healthcare decisions, not Washington bureaucrats from the IRS."
