Rep. Tom Reed, House Vote for Fairness Under Obamacare

Rep. Tom Reed and the House of Representatives voted Wednesday to authorize the President's decision to delay Obamacare mandates on businesses for one-year and on a second piece of legislation to extend that delay to individuals and families. Reed spoke on the House floor, pointing to the need to bring fairness to individuals, not just Administration-selected businesses.

"If businesses get a break, it's only fair individuals and families see the same relief," Rep. Reed said. "The mismanaged implementation of the President's health care law brings even more uncertainty to hardworking taxpayers today, as the President chooses which parts of his law to implement. Our focus is on leveling the playing field and bringing fairness to all individuals -- not just the businesses the Administration picks as winners."

On July 2nd, the Obama Administration announced a one-year delay of the employer mandate, a key component of the President's health care law. The Authority for Mandate Delay Act provides Congressional authority for this employer mandate the Administration delayed. The Fairness for American Families Act extends that one-year mandate delay to individuals and families.
