The University of Toledo will receive new federal resources for personnel development that will improve educational services for children with disabilities. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced today that a competitive grant of $246,000 from the U.S. Department of Education's Preparation of Leadership Personnel program was awarded to the University of Toledo.

"We must pay special attention to making sure that children with disabilities have access to the top-notch educators and effective teaching practices that they deserve," Brown said. "This funding will help the University of Toledo continue its important work."

The Preparation of Leadership Personnel program addresses state-identified needs for highly qualified individuals in special education, early intervention, related services, and regular education to those working with children with disabilities. The program seeks to ensure that the personnel have the necessary skills and knowledge, derived through scientific research, to successfully serve the children.
