Capito: President Obama's Renewed War on Coal Spells Trouble for Our Economy

Statement

Date: July 5, 2013
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Energy

Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito (WV-02) released the following statement in response to the unemployment report for June 2013:

"While today's report shows a glimmer of hope for our nation's economy, coal-rich states like West Virginia should be very concerned. Just last week, President Obama announced a renewed plan for his war on coal that could disenfranchise our state. His regulatory agenda would not only cost West Virginians jobs, but it would deliver a severe blow to our nation's economy and any hopes of becoming energy independent. Sadly, instead of moving our country forward like he once promised, the president has decided to turn the lights off in states like West Virginia."
