Pitts on Employer Mandate Delay

Statement

Date: July 3, 2013

Yesterday evening, the Obama administration announced that enforcement of the health law's new employer mandate would be delayed until 2015.

Congressman Pitts' statement follows:

"It is absolutely no surprise that the Obama administration is having trouble getting the health care law to work. I've been consistently hearing from constituents being hurt by the law for months. This delay is simply too little and too late for many workers who have already seen their hours cut and for many businesses who have spent millions of dollars to comply. The employer mandate should be repealed, not delayed.

"When Secretary Sebelius was before my Health Subcommittee, she insisted everything would start on time. I wonder how many other surprises we are in for before the end of the year? She should come back to the committee and be open and honest with us about how the implementation of law is going."
