Governor Hassan Statement on Medicaid Managed Care

Statement

overnor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement announcing that all hospitals have either signed agreements or signed agreements in principle with the Medicaid Managed Care companies:

"I am pleased to announce that all New Hampshire hospitals have entered either into signed managed care agreements or agreements in principle to begin offering services through New Hampshire's Medicaid Care Management program. This is an important step forward toward better managing health care costs through the Medicaid program and improving services for citizens. The goal of New Hampshire's care management program is to improve outcomes for patients and to reduce costs for taxpayers, and I want to thank New Hampshire's hospitals for moving forward with this important effort.

"The return of uncompensated care dollars in this budget was crucial to our efforts to gain hospital participation in the care management program, and I want to thank the legislature for their support of those efforts.

"Equally crucial to the long-term financial health of our hospitals, our health care system and our families is moving forward with Medicaid expansion, which will bring $2.5 billion into our health care system and reduce uncompensated care costs. I hope as the Medicaid Expansion Commission begins its work next week, we can move forward expeditiously to expand access to Medicaid to working families."
