"The Voting Rights Act is not only one of the most groundbreaking pieces of legislation in our country's history, but it is also an important statement of our values as a nation. Today's decision by the Supreme Court weakens this law and threatens the ability of Americans to exercise their vote. This is tremendously disappointing. However, the Supreme Court gave Congress an order to act and we must do so. The right to vote is a cornerstone of our democracy and I am committed to working with my colleagues in Congress to make our electoral system accessible and fair for all Americans."
