Congressman Cantor Supports The Student Success Act

Statement

Date: June 19, 2013
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: K-12 Education

Today, Congressman Eric Cantor (VA-07) released the following statement on the Education & the Workforce Committee markup of H.R. 5, The Student Success Act:

"Too often our schools are not meeting the education needs of our children. One size fits all education policy coming from Washington cannot meet the diverse needs of our children and our communities. I've met so many success stories, so many children who broke free from failing schools, found greater opportunity and now are achieving their destiny. It can be done, because I've seen it.

"House Republicans remain committed to fixing our broken education system and ensuring that all children have the best opportunity to succeed. Today, Chairman Kline and the Education & the Workforce Committee advanced the Student Success Act to update our nation's K-12 education laws. The Student Success Act is a long-term solution that will prevent future federal overreach, promote effective teachers in the classroom and provide more parents with more choice. All children deserve access to a quality education, and I hope we can come together to pass this commonsense measure when it's considered by the House next month."
