Ross Votes to Protect Families and Businesses from Costly Health Care Law

U.S. Rep. Dennis Ross (FL-15) voted today to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) in its entirety.

H.R. 45, To Repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and Health Care-Related Provisions in the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010, would end the individual mandate that everyone must purchase health insurance, end federal funding for abortion, and end increased premiums with less flexibility and fewer choices.

Rep. Ross introduced an amendment to H.R. 45 that would have replaced ObamaCare and would have: given access to health insurance for those who are high-risk and/or have pre-existing conditions; allowed for people to buy health insurance across state lines; and given tax deductions for parents who establish an HSA account for their child to use once they turn 18 and obtain their own insurance coverage.

No amendments, including Rep. Ross's, were allowed to be brought to the floor. H.R. 45 passed the House of Representatives 229 to 195.

"The president's health care law has increased costs for families across Florida and the country," said Ross. "Employers are forced to be more concerned about complying with this costly law than with growing their businesses and hiring new staff."
