U.S. Senator Kay Hagan, chair of the Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities, helped pass a bipartisan resolution that reaffirms the strong relationship between the U.S. and Israel by supporting the full implementation of U.S. and international sanctions on Iran. The resolution supports Israel's right to self-defense and reiterates that U.S. policy is to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.

"A nuclear-armed Iran is a threat to our country, our ally Israel and the stability of the Middle East and we must to continue to take actions that help prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons," said Hagan. "Iran's threatening statements and policies towards Israel underscore the need for both U.S. and international sanctions. I am pleased that my colleagues could come together in a bipartisan way to support our ally Israel and support these sanctions."
