Blog: The Webster Wire: "Listening to Central Floridians"

Statement

Dear Friend,

Yesterday, I addressed a large crowd of Central Floridians assembled on Memory Mall at the University of Central Florida for the third annual Operation Giveback 5K/10K/15K Run,Walk.Roll Race benefiting wounded warriors. For too many of our warriors, their sacrifices on our behalf endure long after they return home. Events such as these demonstrate our community's commitment to supporting our military veterans and their families.

As I visited with participants and volunteers at the Operation Giveback race, I became acquainted with Staff Sgt. Christopher Gordon, a resident of Clermont, Florida. Since moving with his family to Central Florida in 2006, Chris has given of his time and talents to serve and empower his fellow wounded veterans. Chris is an inspiration to me and a hero and I wanted share his story with you. Click here to continue reading.

Earlier this week, I continued my series of listening sessions with a stop at the Plantation senior community in Lake County. Hosting these public forums is an opportunity to hear the concerns of Central Floridians and share with them the constituent services that my office provides. Check out photos from past listening sessions and join the conversation by following me on Twitter or Facebook.

In my Winter Garden office this week, I met with a local small business owner, Benjamin Collins, to discuss the impact of the President's healthcare law on his company and his employees. Nearly every small business owner I meet with expresses the same fears of complying with the labyrinth of regulations contained in the President's healthcare law. These fears combined with the broken promises of those who supported the law continue to stall the creation of new jobs across our country. The prescription for our health care system is patient-centered reform that guarantees the care you need, from the doctors you choose, at a price you can afford.

Your servant,
Daniel Webster
Member of Congress
