Today, Rep. Dave Joyce announced he's signed onto two bills, the Live by the Laws You Write Act, H.R. 2010 and H.R.1780, which would close the Congressional and White House loophole in the health care law, ensuring Congressional staff, White House staff, Members of Congress, and the President himself will have to live under the same law as the American people. Joyce stated:

"While I'm a firm believer that we must repeal the health care law and replace it with common-sense legislation, I also believe Washington should not be exempt from a law the American people are being forced to live under. It's wrong that the very people who wrote the health law now want to be exempt from it and speaks volume about the law itself."

H.R. 2010, first introduced by Rep. Andy Barr (KY-06), would amend the definition of "congressional staff" in Section 1312 of the Affordable Care Act to make sure that it does not continue to exempt committee staff and leadership staff in the House and Senate. The bill has been referred to committee and has 14 cosponsors. H.R. 1780 was first introduced by Rep. Dave Camp (MI-04) and would ensure the President, Vice President, Members of Congress, and Federal employees could only utilize health plans provided in the health law. The bill currently has 15 cosponsors and has been referred to committee.
