Lance Statement on April Jobs Report

Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-7) today released the following statement in reaction to the April jobs report from the U.S. Department of Labor. A net total of 165,000 jobs were created and the unemployment rate for April decreased to 7.5 percent from 7.6 percent in March.

"Any job growth is good news for our struggling national economy. But the fact is an unemployment rate of 7.5 percent is unacceptably too high and Washington just isn't doing enough to help our job creators. Higher taxes, federal mandates, over-regulation and red tape are some of the many misguided policies of the past four-plus years that has put a drag on our job creators who want to hire more workers.

"Improving our economy requires new solutions like a balanced budget, tax reform, expanded American energy production as well as eliminating barriers to job creation. These and other pro-growth policies will jump-start our economy, strengthen long-term fiscal solvency and get more Americans back to work."
