Nunnelee Votes to End President Obama's Needless Flight Delays

Statement

Congressman Alan Nunnelee (R-Miss) released the following statement after his vote in favor of H.R. 1765, the Reducing Flight Delays Act:

"President Obama hates the idea of limited government, so rather than find smart ways to save money without impacting essential services, he decided to make spending cuts as painful as possible for the average American. His administration's decision to furlough air traffic controllers, thus causing unnecessary flight delays, was one of the most shameful displays of political cynicism I have ever witnessed.

Congress acted to save the public from President Obama's flight delays by passing a bill shifting money from less urgent priorities to air traffic controller salaries. Even Harry Reid realized this was the right course of action. At a time when families, businesses, state and local governments are all finding ways to prioritize their spending, they have every reason to expect their federal government to do the same.

Actions, not words, reflect priorities. President Obama's choice to play political games with air safety tells you all you need to know about his."

H.R 1765 passed the House, 361-41.
