Issues: Defense

Since President Obama's first year in office, the perception of the United States and our leaders abroad has been in continual decline. It has been ten years since the invasion of Iraq, yet relations with the Middle East remain strained.

Solution - Promoting economic freedom at home and abroad is essential to revitalizing and securing America's future. We must invest in countries who share our goals, values, and priorities. We must protect our allies and encourage their sovereignty, not enable our enemies.

We must remain vigilant to the risk of terrorism and strategic threats from abroad. Our foreign policy must be aimed at ensuring that countries such as Iran and North Korea do not achieve military nuclear capabilities. Additionally, the United States must enforce strict sanctions against those countries that engage in state sponsored terrorism and propagate human rights violations.

The men and women who serve our country and protect Americans against threats from abroad deserve our greatest support and gratitude. Their interests -- both while they are serving and as veterans -- must always be a driving factor in our policy decisions.
