Udall Launches Statewide Energy Tour to Help Position Colorado as a Model for National Energy Policy

Mark Udall, who serves on the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, announced today that he is launching a series of roundtables and other events to connect with Colorado energy industry officials, local leaders and the public to highlight how Colorado's balanced approach to energy development and innovation is a model for the country. Udall will start his statewide energy outreach tour at an event on Saturday, March 30, at the National Wind Technology Center in Louisville.

"From solar energy in the San Luis Valley to the wind towers of northern Colorado to the natural gas and coal of the Western Slope, Colorado has a balanced and diverse energy portfolio. Washington has a lot to learn from how we do business in Colorado, and that's why I'm launching this tour," Udall said. "I have long held the view that we need a balanced approach to securing our energy future -- a strategy that includes renewable sources such as wind, solar and biomass alongside traditional sources, such as oil, coal and natural gas. I believe renewable energy sources will create thousands of good-paying Colorado jobs and help reverse the harmful effects of global warming in the process. With our innovative and entrepreneurial spirit, Colorado can become the national leader in securing energy independence."

Udall and his staff will host these meetings and roundtable discussions across Colorado.
