Today, Congressman Xavier Becerra, Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, issued the following statement commemorating the birthday of Cesar E. Chavez, who would have turned 86 this Sunday:
"Cesar Chavez was the grandson of immigrants, a farmworker, a labor organizer, and a civil rights leader. He dedicated his life to ensuring the dignity and well-being of workers in this country. Above all, he championed justice and equality for all. Cesar Chavez was and is an American hero. This Cesar Chavez Day, let us all strive to not only love our brothers and sisters, but to keep the American Dream alive for workers and families across our country."
