Rep. Miller Applauds Signing of Emergency Dredging Strategy

Statement

Date: March 27, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Candice Miller (MI-10) today praised Governor Rick Snyder and the Michigan State Legislature for their efforts in producing legislation which provides $21 million for 58 emergency harbor dredging projects. These efforts will aid our state's public harbors and recreational marinas that are facing a crisis due to record low lake levels. Miller said:

"The actions taken by our Governor and State Legislature are to be applauded. This funding for harbor dredging will assist many of our communities that dot the shores of the Great Lakes, and will directly aid in protecting our state's economy as the boating season approaches. Michigan ranks as one of the top states with the most registered boats in the nation, and the economic impact tied to Michigan's boating related spending cannot be overstated. I commend all those who helped usher this positive action and look forward to the completion of this needed dredging work."
