Congressman Collins: House passes the responsible, balanced budget the American people deserve

Date: March 21, 2013

Congressman Chris Collins (NY-27) issued the following statement following the House Budget vote.

"Today, the House of Representatives passed the responsible, balanced budget the American people deserve. This budget balances in ten-years while protecting Medicare. Working directly with Budget Chairman Paul Ryan, I was able to insert a specific protection for Medicare Advantage, a program many local seniors rely on.

A balanced budget is critical to helping spur economic growth, create the right environment for businesses to expand and add jobs, and secure a stronger financial future for hardworking taxpayers.

The budget being advanced in the Senate raises a trillion dollars in new taxes and never balances. Western New York and Finger Lakes families and seniors know that is not the answer. They are owed a responsible, balanced budget focused on getting our spending and debt under control so we can regain control of our future. The budget passed by the House today does just that."
