Report: Obamacare To Increase Health Insurance Premiums 61-100% In Georgia

Press Release

Date: March 11, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

A joint report released today by Republican members of U.S. House and Senate congressional committees estimates that the cost of health care in Georgia and across the United States will skyrocket as a result of Obamacare. The report, entitled "The Price of Obamacare's Broken Promises," shows that health insurance premiums will increase by 61%-100% in Georgia, with young adults in Atlanta facing premium increases of as much as 179%.

"The report confirms that government-centered health care has a devastating impact on middle class families and young adults in Georgia," said U.S. Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14), author of the Defund Obamacare Act. "Obamacare's high costs will be a huge strain on the family budget and an undue burden on recent college graduates who may not need or want the more expensive care mandated by the law. We must act now to defund and repeal Obamacare before the full force of the law takes effect next year."

The joint report is based on a compilation of over 30 studies and analyses of Obamacare's impact.
