Chairman Goodlatte Responds to IG Report on DOJ Civil Rights Division

Statement

Date: March 13, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Following this week's report by the Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General on the operations of the Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) released the following statement.

Chairman Goodlatte: "The IG report casts significant doubt on the Civil Rights Division staff's willingness and ability to enforce the voting laws equally, without regard to race, and to enforce all parts of our voting integrity laws. The report also raises serious questions about mismanagement of the Division, significant impediments to its operation, and deep ideological polarization. The House Judiciary Committee plans to hold a hearing to further investigate these concerns."
