Congresswoman Renee Ellmers released the following statement regarding her vote on the "Path to Prosperity" Fiscal Year 2014 Budget:

"Today my colleagues and I passed a strong budget that will fund the government in a responsible manner for 2014. We owe it to the American people to provide some sense of certainty and a government that lives within its means - just as millions of families do each day. By providing a balanced budget, we are ensuring that more money stays in the pockets of hardworking Americans and that we curtail the out of control spending that has plagued Washington for years."

"We must continue to act to address the serious problems facing our government's finances and the passage of this balanced budget is a step in the right direction."

This morning, the House of Representatives passed the "Path to Prosperity" Fiscal Year 2014 budget. This budget sets a responsible precedent by ensuring our government lives within its means. The bill sets real, practical goals that will:

Stop spending money we don't have by cutting wasteful spending.
Fix our broken tax code to create jobs and increase wages.
Protect and strengthen important priorities like Medicare and national security.
Reform welfare programs like Medicaid so they can deliver on their promise.
