Today, Congressman Alcee L. Hastings (D-FL) issued the following statement on the March 1, 2013 sequester:

"It is astounding what Republicans in Congress are doing. They have given a whole new meaning to the term 'March Madness.' Once again, they are leading this nation to the brink of a manufactured crisis. On Friday, we will see across-the-board spending cuts that will harm the economy and undermine job creation. But House Republicans are refusing to act, and the American people will be left to pay the price. With only three days to go, Congress must take action now to avert the sequester, protect middle class and working poor Americans, and get back to work."
