Sensenbrenner Responds to State of the Union, Return of Cap and Tax

Statement

Date: Feb. 13, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) released this statement responding to President Obama's State of the Union Address:

"The President offered more the same platitudes on job creation we have heard for four years. More taxes, spending and regulation are not keys to economic growth; they are impediments to it. Yet, last night the President renewed his vision for an America where government expands while freedom contracts.

"The Administration could not get climate change legislation passed through Congress when Democrats controlled both Chambers and the White House. Now, determined to impose his will on the country, the President was very clear that he will instruct his Administration to achieve his goals via regulation and administrative fiat. Whether by 'cap and tax' scheme or EPA regulation, these policies will ravage our economy and hike energy prices. I hope the President will work with Congress to enact smart policies that will improve our energy security now and for generations."
