Cicilline Statement on Failure of "Plan B"

Statement

Date: Dec. 20, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Congressman David Cicilline issued the following statement tonight:

"After Speaker Boehner failed to get support from his own Republican members for his partisan fiscal cliff proposal, he walked away from negotiations and adjourned for the Christmas holiday. This is a terrible result for Rhode Island families and small business owners. President Obama has consistently worked towards reaching a bipartisan solution, but House Republicans have decided not to continue these discussions. I remain committed to working towards a compromise that avoids a middle class tax increase and reduces our deficit in a responsible way, and I hope that Republicans will resume negotiations soon."
