Schwartz: Boehner's "Plan B" Jeopardizes Seniors' Access to Health Care

Statement

Date: Dec. 19, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz issued the following statement today on Speaker Boehner's "Plan B" legislation. Schwartz, a senior member of the Budget Committee and incoming Ways and Means member, is the author of a bipartisan plan to permanently repeal the flawed Medicare payment system and set out a clear path toward comprehensive reforms of Medicare payment and delivery systems.

"Speaker Boehner and Congressional Republicans' "Plan B' legislation is nothing but a political game at a time when the American people have demanded serious action.

"By not addressing a drastic 27 percent cut to physician reimbursements, Congressional Republicans are continuing uncertainty and instability for providers and jeopardizing seniors' access to their doctors and the health care they need.

"The Republican "Plan B' does not address the serious challenges we face as a nation. We need real solutions and real compromise. We must work together on a fair and balanced approach to protect middle class families, protect our commitment to our seniors, and protect our economic recovery."
