Rokita: Fiscal Crisis Requires Us to Cut Spending to Pay for Emergency Expenses

U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita today issued the following statement after voting "no" on H.R. 41, a bill to temporarily increase the borrowing authority of the Federal Emergency Management Agency for carrying out the National Flood Insurance Program:

"We are in a fiscal crisis, with $16 trillion in debt and another $100 trillion on the way. Just as normal American families do, we have to be willing to cut spending on less important things if we want to pay for emergency expenses. Today's bill failed to do so, and so I reluctantly opposed it," said Rokita.
