Statement on reintroduction of Violence Against Women Act

Statement

Date: Jan. 23, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz., released the following statement today about the reintroduction of the Violence Against Women Act, of which she is a cosponsor:

"Since the Violence Against Women Act was first enacted, it has saved lives and helped millions of victims. But even with such progress, too many women face injury or death at the hands of a partner. We have much more work to do, so let's move swiftly to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act. We cannot tolerate any of the usual Washington partisan games on such an important issue. And we must reaffirm that protecting the victims of domestic violence means protecting all victims of domestic violence. Let's work together right now to pass a strong, bipartisan bill."
